We’re Incredibly Proud of our Chairman Clare Foster – Celebrated as a Pioneer Woman in Rugby!

Clare Foster has paved the way for women in rugby, and this week the RFU is celebrating Pioneer Women in Rugby — those trailblazing females who have inspired generations across the sport. We couldn’t be prouder that our very own Clare is being recognised for her remarkable contributions.

From helping out in the kitchen as a teenager to becoming the first female Chairman of Bromsgrove RFC, Clare’s journey spans over three decades of dedication, leadership, and breaking barriers.

She became the club’s first female coach in 1997, leading the U7s for 10 years, qualified as a referee and touch judge, and continues to run touch for Bromsgrove RFC’s 1st XV. Clare has held multiple managerial roles, including manager of North Mid’s Women, manager of Bromsgrove RFC 1st XV, and manager of North Mid’s U20s, before serving as Chair of Selectors and Chair of Player Development for North Mid’s.

Her contributions have been widely recognised: she was Bromsgrove District Council’s Sports Volunteer of the Year in 2011, meeting the Queen during the Diamond Jubilee celebrations, and awarded North Mids RFU Club Volunteer of the Year 2018-2019.

In 2021, Clare made history as the first female Chairman of Bromsgrove RFC, a role she continues to fulfil while overseeing registrations, fixtures, and countless behind-the-scenes responsibilities that keep the club running smoothly.

Clare’s story is one of passion, perseverance, and inspiring the next generation of women in rugby.
